چکیده

The functioning of the first type, the flue or labial pipe, was already investigated within previous extensive research projects. The second pipe type, the reed pipe, is less often installed in pipe organs, and only little research was done in this field so far. This is why this pipe type is now the focus of research of the working group ‚Musical Acoustics ‘ at the Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics.

On the acoustical quality of free-reed organ pipes

Free-reed organ pipes were introduced at the end of the 18 century and soon became popular across Europe, especially in Germany and Switzerland. As opposed to striking-reed pipes (boundor beating-reed pipes) the reed in free-reed pipes does not beat against the shallot, an orifice in the reed, when it is played. Instead it swings freely through a perforated rectangular plate of brass, like in r...

Health Monitoring of Welded Steel Pipes by Vibration Analysis

In the present work, structure health monitoring (SHM) of welded steel pipes was used to diagnosis their state via vibration based damage detection techniques. The dynamic quantities such as Frequency Response Functions (FRFs), mode shapes and modal parameters from structural vibration to detect damage were measured, set on linear averaging mode, with a maximum frequency of analysis of 3.2 kHz....

Flow through the Reed Channel of a Single Reed Music Instrument

A simple analytical model of the stationary flow through the mouthpiece of a single reed music instrument is developed. Preliminary measurements of the non—stationary volume flow through an oscillating valve (as used in organ pipes) and a clarinet reed are presented. In both cases the flux induced by the reed motion is observed.

Thermo-mechanical nonlinear vibration analysis of fluid-conveying structures subjected to different boundary conditions using Galerkin-Newton-Harmonic balancing method

The development of mathematical models for describing the dynamic behaviours of fluid conveying pipes, micro-pipes and nanotubes under the influence of some thermo-mechanical parameters results into nonlinear equations that are very difficult to solve analytically. In cases where the exact analytical solutions are presented either in implicit or explicit forms, high skills and rigorous mathemat...

Vibration analysis of double bonded composite pipe reinforced by BNNTs conveying oil

In the present research, nonlinear vibration in a coupled system of Boron-Nitride nano-tube reinforced composite (BNNTRC) oil pipes is studied. Single-walled Boron-Nitride nano-tubes (SWBNNTs) are arranged in a longitudinal direction inside Poly-vinylidene fluoride (PVDF) matrix. Damping and shearing effects of surrounded medium are taken into account by visco-Pasternak model. Based on piezoele...
